Switching the regioselectivity via indium(III) and gold(I) catalysis: a post-Ugi intramolecular hydroarylation to azepino- and azocino-[c,d]indolones.

A post-Ugi indium(III)- and gold(I)-mediated regioselective intramolecular hydroarylation for the synthesis of azepino- and azocino-[c,d]indolones is described.

Post-Ugi gold-catalyzed diastereoselective domino cyclization for the synthesis of diversely substituted spiroindolines

An Ugi four-component reaction of propargylamine with 3-formylindole and various acids and isonitriles produces adducts which are subjected to a cationic gold-catalyzed diastereoselective domino cyclization to furnish diversely substituted spiroindolines. All the reactions run via an exo-dig attack in the hydroarylation step followed by an intramolecular diastereoselective trapping of the immin...

Formal [4+2] reaction between 1,3-diynes and pyrroles: gold(I)-catalyzed indole synthesis by double hydroarylation.

Indole synthesis by a gold(I)-catalyzed intermolecular formal [4+2] reaction between 1,3-diynes and pyrroles has been developed. This reaction involves the hydroarylation of 1,3-diynes with pyrroles followed by an intramolecular hydroarylation to give the 4,7-disubstituted indoles. This reaction can also be applied to the synthesis of carbazoles when indoles are used as the nucleophiles instead...

Synthesis of fluoranthenes by hydroarylation of alkynes catalyzed by gold(I) or gallium trichloride

Electrophilic gold(I) catalyst 6 competes with GaCl(3) as the catalyst of choice in the synthesis of fluoranthenes by intramolecular hydroarylation of alkynes. The potential of this catalyst for the preparation of polyarenes is illustrated by a synthesis of two functionalized decacyclenes in a one-pot transformation in which three C-C bonds are formed with high efficiency.

Synthesis of the phenanthrene and cyclohepta[a]naphthalene skeletons via gold(I)-catalyzed intramolecular cyclization of unactivated cyclic 5-(2-arylethyl)-1,3-dienes.

The gold(I)-catalyzed hydroarylation of cyclohexa-1,3-dienes bearing an aryl group and a gem-diester in the tether proceeds in a 1,4-addition manner and in a diastereoselective fashion to afford perhydrophenanthrene rings. The reaction proceeded via attack of the aryl group onto the gold-activated cyclic dienes followed by rearomatization and protodeauration to generate perhydrophenanthrenes in...
